Lame, as in leggings!

What does everyone think about lame leggings? I'm starting to see them everywhere and I'm not sure if I like them- its not even the fact that I don't like them, I just don't know if I can pull them off! I've been on an American Apparel kick lately and I'm thinking of ordering a pair. I usually got pretty far with the clothes I wear, but I would feel like a dominatrix!
What do you guys think?
love,

Fashion Icons<3

My favorite fashion icons of all time contributed immensely to my style and even choices! These icons started trends that lead to fashion revolutions. I think my favorite fashion Icon is Edie Sedgwick. Andy Warhol saw much potential in her elfin features and waifish frame; enough potential to call her his muse. Although her life was short, she left a legacy in the fashion and art world. Below is a clip of the cult classic Ciao Manhattan, which is her last film.

Mia Farrow: She inspired many young women to chop off their locks and go for the Vidal Sassoon look. There is nothing I love more than an adorable pixie cut! It is a hairstyle that goes with any outfit.

Judy Pace

Jade Cole (from America's next top model)

Even though Jade just reeked of bitch on America's Next Top Model, she was always my favorite! It was a sad day when she got voted off.

The Like

Did I mention their music is good?

An Ode to MK.

Every time I go to the grocery store or pharmacy, there is always at LEAST one magazine with an photo of MK with the caption that reads "WHAT WAS SHE THINKING???"
Am I crazy or something? I really admire the girl's personal style, its eclectic-bohemian-grunge (just what I go for!) so maybe I'm biased or even a tad bit insulted:)
Occasionally I'll see her wearing something that's a little too much for me, but it always looks good on HER and that's what matters.
Here are some of my favorite MK outfits:

I am really digging the tights with this look!

This dress is absolutely stunning!

I believe that I want these heels more than anything!

I bought the knock off sandals for only $50!

Love the low cut v neck tee.

What do you guys think? Oh! Before I forget, this is one look I could live without looking at again....

Its not that I HATE it, I just don't understand it!

With that said, if you liked the looks above, here are some sites where you could get the look for less :)

This is similar to the tee MK is wearing above but in Gray. It can be found at Americanapparel.net. It can ALSO be found at the ebay store kgs4 (http://stores.ebay.com/kgs4)

This dress looks like it would be perfect with a corset belt and an adorable clutch. It can be purchased by ebay seller Dressplanet! It also comes in different colors :)

I have these exact sandals and they're so comfortable! My friends and boyfriend don't "understand them" but then again they're the kinds of people who are still stuck in safe and pricey "Hollisterland."

Animal Print or not?

I think there is a stigma associated with animal prints. They are very risque and when I asked a few people what they thought about when I mentioned animal prints, they immediately responded with:

"prostitute?"
"umm...moulin rouge?"
"Uh...that rapper? Lil Kim?"
"Tarzan, de-definitely Tarzan, yeah."
"Dirty. I just think dirty."
"Jane" (from Tarzan)
"tacky!"

I used to think animal prints were so tacky and dramatic. When someone mentioned animal prints to me, I immediately thought of Cruella DeVil. Recently I've been seeing it around a lot lately and I am actually yearning for a little leopard print to add to my wardrobe; nothing crazy though. I think in order for animal print to work, a little has to be worn at a time. So for instance, If i purchased a large leopard print boho bag, I would wear it with solid colors; NO other animal prints because it would be overdoing it. I think animal prints are sophisticated when worn properly. Otherwise, one could end up looking like so:

Playing with wild prints is a very dangerous game. Here is the safe way to play! Be a minimalist!

Pixie Geldof

I love the animal print flats! This is possibly my favorite animal print item!

Little my little I am incorporating animal print into my wardrobe and I look forward to getting more!

Autumn wish list

Fall is fast approaching and I am always thinking of new items to add to the abyss that is my closet. Since I live in Michigan, pea coats and tights are short lived; It gets cold, FAST. The items on my wish list for this fall are as follows:

Double Breasted Coat with wide bell sleeves from Victoria's Secret ($148) The coats come in camel, black, and gray. I REALLY want this coat, but probably won't even bother getting it because Michigan is too cold for it anyway ;)

Red tights ($5.44 on amazon!)
Red tights look amazing with a great pea coat and some mary janes or even cute slouch boots, which leads me to my next wish list item...

I am dying for a black or brown slouch boot. Since I am a cheap college student, I've been browsing shops and sites for sales. I finally found an inexpensive pair on Charlotte Russe for $30.00. Not bad.

Hair Essentials!

This is a very beautiful flapper headband from Etsy seller Charmschooldesign ($32.00)

Design your own candy thief sparkle band:: etsy.com:: seller, TheCandyThief

free people campfire earwarmer Urbanoutfitters.com ($38.00)

Waffle Stitch Scarf Urbanoutfitters.com ($28.00)

Jewelery

I have developed an obsession with elephants; despite an elephant's large size, there is something about them that is extremely graceful and primitive. If I stumble across anything elephant that is NOT gold, I will consider buying it (considering the price, as well)

I love this Woodsy Agate Necklace from Urban Outfitters. ($34.00)

puuuuuuurses

I love this bag...why? Because it is very large and I carry everything in my purse, including my laptop, books, and lunch. I am thinking I can fit a ton of things in this one!

Crisscross Doctor Bag, Urbanoutfitters.com ($68.00)

Nil Sports Bag By "Lanvin"(I can't afford this, why did I even post this?? *sighs*)

Make Your Own Wall Art!

So here is some more wall art that I stumbled upon. I actually saw these easy designs in a home decorating magazine and I fell in love with them. The best part is you can make them yourself AND they're very inexpensive. All you have to do is go to a local fabric store, pick out your favorite fabrics, and then glue or staple them to a wooden frame or board. They brighten up a room without being too gaudy and you can make them in any shape or size.

The Tim Burton-esqe theme above is my favorite. Although it is not a fabric applique, It can still be made easily with your own personal stencil.

Apartment Guts.

Cute, don't you think? Of course, since is does add a lot of flavor to a space, I don't think putting it on a wall with a bunch of clutter is very wise.

I just moved into a new apartment and all I think about are how to stylize it to make it uniquely me and homey. So far we've added plants, trinkets from Pier One Imports, paintings, photographs, and great finds from thrift stores. Its coming along pretty well, but I do have to keep in mind to avoid clutter. Sometimes it is very hard when you come across must have finds...
The only disadvantage about the apartment are the white walls. I've come to find that wall decals can brighten up a room instantly and they are easy to remove as well. I am thinking of getting the owl decal.

There are many other decals available online, a favorite place of mine is Urbanoutfitters.com

Why I Love Leather

If you haven't heard of bpleathercraft.com, you should familiarize yourself with it. Immediately. There is a plethora of unique leather accessories that range from genuine leather purses to keychains. I recently purchased this owl bag from the site and it is my favorite purse of all time. Everywhere I go, people ask where I purchased the bag. At first I lied because I wanted to be the only person in my town with this purse, but then I felt guilty and thought I shouldn't be so stingy. My next investment will probably be the fish bag. I don't think my textbooks or laptop could fit in it. Oh well.
